NGC 457 -- The Owl Cluster467 viewsNGC 457 -- The Owl Cluster, and open cluster in Cassiopeia. Processed in February 2006 in Maxim DL and Photoshop. Gradients were removed with Russ Croman's Gradient Xterminator. I also applied Don Wade's star color enhancement techniques. The original exposures were too short, so the read noise was a factor in the final images. It also appears that the color images are not perfectly aligned, or the red in the lower left of each star may be due to the extensive color enhancement.

M45 -- The Pleadies609 viewsM45 - The Pleadies, Maxim DL, Photoshop. This was a particularly difficult image and I am not fully satisfied with the result. The problem is blooms and the great contrast between dark and light. The blooms lead to the small "X" on each bright star.

M35 and NGC 2158554 viewsM35 and NGC 2158, Open Clusters in Gemini, Maxim DL, CCD Sharp, Photoshop. Visually this is a beautiful star cluster that I first saw in Big Bear at an Indian Princess Winter Camp. This does not capture the magic of that night but it is still a nice image.
