M35 and NGC 2158555 viewsM35 and NGC 2158, Open Clusters in Gemini, Maxim DL, CCD Sharp, Photoshop. Visually this is a beautiful star cluster that I first saw in Big Bear at an Indian Princess Winter Camp. This does not capture the magic of that night but it is still a nice image.

NGC 457 -- The Owl Cluster468 viewsNGC 457 -- The Owl Cluster, and open cluster in Cassiopeia. Processed in February 2006 in Maxim DL and Photoshop. Gradients were removed with Russ Croman's Gradient Xterminator. I also applied Don Wade's star color enhancement techniques. The original exposures were too short, so the read noise was a factor in the final images. It also appears that the color images are not perfectly aligned, or the red in the lower left of each star may be due to the extensive color enhancement.

M45 -- The Pleadies611 viewsM45 - The Pleadies, Maxim DL, Photoshop. This was a particularly difficult image and I am not fully satisfied with the result. The problem is blooms and the great contrast between dark and light. The blooms lead to the small "X" on each bright star.

The gradients were awful so the color is a bit strained, and I may have clipped the black level a little bit too.

NGC 891 -- Spiral Galaxy in Andromeda935 viewsProcesses with data from December 18, 2004 and November 17 2006. 5 hours 5 minutes actual, 7 hours 20 minutes effective exposure. Processed with Maxim DL, CCDStack, and Photoshop, using GradientXterminator. Luminance combined from clear, luminance, and RGB filters unbinned. Color combines binned and unbinned sub-exposures.
