M101 -- The Pinwheel Galaxy M101 / NGC 5457, the Pinwheel Galaxy, a spiral galaxy in Ursa Major. Data acquired and reduced in Maxim DL, aligned and stacked in CCDStack 2, processed in PixInsight, and finished in Photoshop. There is some optical aberration, I think from the focal reducer, that distorts the stars, particularly at the top of the frame.

M101 -- The Pinwheel Galaxy

M101 / NGC 5457, the Pinwheel Galaxy, a spiral galaxy in Ursa Major. Data acquired and reduced in Maxim DL, aligned and stacked in CCDStack 2, processed in PixInsight, and finished in Photoshop. There is some optical aberration, I think from the focal reducer, that distorts the stars, particularly at the top of the frame.
